Boy or girl?

Our big ultrasound is tomorrow. Many people look forward to this ultrasound because they get to find out the gender; we get to find out if there is something wrong or not. Well, and find out the gender. Honestly I'm impressed at how calm we've been these last few weeks. There wasn't a thing we could do to get answers except wait; so we did. I didn't even Google (much). I did seek advice from my friends in the computer and while some of their stories were far from happy stories, it's just always helpful to know someone else has been there. So we've waited. Patiently. And tomorrow we should know more about the higher nuchal translucency number. If it means there is a heart defect or some other birth defect or problem with Lucky. We've made it this far, which was a concern of mine...not even making it to this ultrasound. I feel his or her little punches or kicks every now and then and of course I have my handy doppler which I will utilize tonight, just to be sure.

Because a poll asking if you think Lucky will have a heart defect or not seems, I don't know, a little morbid, how about we do one based on gender? I did this when I was pregnant with Sabrina and the majority got it right - and I thought we were having a boy. To help your guess, here are the questions I used last time, all based on the old wives tales we've all heard:

1) If you carry high, it’s a girl. Low, it’s a boy. I'm in the middle. Maybe a little low. Definitely different than Sabrina, so I'll say BOY.
2) If the heartbeat is under 140 bpm, it’s a boy. If it is over 140 bpm, it’s a girl. I haven't paid much attention to the actual rate but I'm pretty sure it was over 150. GIRL.
3) Tie your wedding ring to a string and dangle it over your belly. If it swings back and forth, it’s a boy. If it goes in circles, it’s a girl. You can also do this holding the string over your open palm. I only did the palm one so far but it was clearly back and forth - BOY.
4) Chinese Gender Chart (http://parenting.ivillage.com/ttc/ttcsigns/0,,j736,00.html ) Some say this is correct 90% of the time. This says GIRL.
5) If you have acne during pregnancy, it’s a girl. If you don’t, it’s a boy. Um, this is a serious issue. I didn't have ANY with Sabrina. This time? I've had some so big they probably needed stitches. GIRL. (A kind of mean girl, too).
6) If you have morning sickness, you’re having a girl. If you don’t, you’re having a boy. I did have morning sickness this time. I even actually got sick once which totally traumatized me. GIRL.
7) If your breasts have gotten bigger, you’re having a girl! If they’ve stayed the same, it’s a boy. Oh, they're huge. GIRL.
8) If your left breast is bigger than the right, you’re having a girl. If the right breast is bigger than the left, it’s a boy. I read my answers last time and I said my left was larger. I don't think this is a pregnancy thing. I think that's just the norm. But I'll go with it and say GIRL.
9) If your urine is neon yellow, it’s a boy. If it’s a dull yellow, it’s a girl. Without going into detail, I'll just say GIRL.
10) If you’re hair on your legs grows faster, it’s a girl. If it stays the same, it’s a boy. Funny, I was just thinking earlier this week that I'll need to start shaving twice a day at the rate the hair on my legs grows (I hate stubble). GIRL.
11) If the dad to be is gaining weight with you, it’s a boy. If he stays the same, it’s a girl. I don't know if he's gaining weight. I don't think so. He's not eating any more than usual, so I'll say GIRL.
12) If you have headaches, you’re having a boy. If you don’t, it’s a girl. Oh, I have headaches. BOY.
13) Girls steal your beauty. If you look better than before, it’s a boy. If you don’t, it’s a girl. I don't even think I look pregnant, so it's hard for me to tell. I don't look better than before, especially with my new-found acne. GIRL.
14) If your feet are colder than usual, it’s a boy. If they’re the same, it’s a girl. Pretty sure they're the same. GIRL.

Interesting! With Sabrina I was exactly 50/50 on this. This time, 3 boy, 11 girl??

Couple things to keep in mind: the string test has never been wrong for me or people around me and that says boy.

I'm thinking boy but I'm almost always wrong (I was wrong with Sabrina).

This is how I'm carrying - it's from last week so about 16ish weeks. Despite this evidence to the contrary, I feel like I'm way smaller this time around. It's definitely been a different pregnancy.

Okay, so poll time: what's your guess?

Cant wait to hear!! Youre going to share the big news right??? ;)
Pretty much all the OWT's pointed to girl for me this time - except the heartbeat which is 145 where as the girls were always in the 160's :)
But from the amnio we KNOW its a BOY! ha! I voted boy by the way ;)

I've noticed that my friends who had or are having girls also have wider hip spreading during the pregnancy so maybe that could be a clue. I'm sorry to hear about the anxiety around the ultrasound. I hope all goes well and you can get back to the excitement of pregnancy. You look really good by the way. Super cute bump.
